Waru Bush Fire – molten heat or cool blue  “Bush Fire” paintings from Central Australia by Joseph Tjangala Zimran.
Australian Aboriginal artists must have permission and custodianship to recount traditional stories whether it is through storytelling, song, ceremony, dance or painting.  Colour can be arbitrary.  Bush Orange paintings can be green.  Bush Fire paintings can be orange which is reminiscent of a fire, or just as important in blue.  Joseph has a cultural obligation to keep passing this story down to the next generation to keep it strong and alive – as it has important messages which have contributed to the survival of the longest living continuous culture on earth, and one of the greatest.
