Iwana Ken was born in 1937 and lived a traditional nomadic life in her early years. Â As a teenager, she was taught how to create tapestry by the missionaries at Ernabella. Â Another childhood memory is the wonder of seeing a camel for the first time. Â Mrs. Ken created a pair of large Tjanpi grass camels incorporating crocheted seats, which was a Telstra finalist entry in 2009. Â This is the first tapestry she has created as an adult, and we are proud to include it in our current collection of art at Tali G. Â Naive and whimsical and delightful, capturing the history of the desert dwellers.
