We are delighted to announce, that eminent Elder and Artist from Darnley Island, Ken Thaiday Snr, will open our  “For Love of Country” Exhibition on Saturday 23rd November.  We anticipate the opening to commence at around 3.15 to 3.30pm.  Prior to joining us at Tali Gallery, Mr. Thaiday will be convening a session at the Art Gallery of NSW as part of the Corroboree Festival which opens tomorrow with a Firelight Ceremony with Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir, Governor of NSW and continues with a wonderful program of talks, events, workshops and art displays across the city over the next fortnight.
Mr. Thaiday is reknowned for creating Torres Strait Island traditional Shark Dance Head dresses, called Beizams. Â His work has been exhibited across the world and is included in the following collections:
